There are some places where you just heard about or even saw somewhere and put it in your agenda that you one day will go and see this place. And that is exciting and motivational. However, there are also some places you might have never heard or have had no intention to go ever in your life… But then there you are… you are in one of these places, you just casually ended up going there. And the place becomes so memorable, not only because what it offers but also because how you felt as a result of this coincidental discovery!
Salda Lake in Turkey was one of these places for us. We did have no intention to stop in this place meanwhile of our 2 weeks of trip inside the country. We were thinking we ‘will see 10 different cities! We planned to see historical places, museums, beautiful beaches, amazing waterfalls and the family we have there. I here add some cool photos from these places if that’s okay 🙂
Before the noon we were already inside the border of Bursa city. Guess what? Because Den was so keen about taking us to this small village where she has been with her parents years ago, we did not stay in city center but directly drove into this village instead. The village is called Cumalikizik.. This village is still protecting all its texture and very filmographic. Most surprising part about the place is that it has the oldest house in Turkey and this house is Unesco protected. You can enter inside and take as many as photos you want! We add some photos here for you to see a bit of this cute house.
Here we are, driving in a sunny day, AC surely full speed on, heading to Pamukkale this time. Where Ste has been with his parents on their camping car 30 years ago! Forcing to remember the times he spent there 3 decades ago. How exciting..
Here we are first thing in the morning, bring ourselves to the hotspring traverten pools! As climbing up, we made many photos, some of them here for you to see this place from our eyes!
Just behind the hotsprings in Pamukkale, there is this ancient city, Hierapolis. An amazing theatre ruins.. We could not move from just sitting there for a while and taking all in by just looking at it with all its details.
And here comes the day, we very concidentaly met Salda. It was when we were on our way to Kaş, Antalya. We saw the sign on the highway to Salda.. A lake.. In a very small second, we just said, should we get out of our route for a while and pay a small visit to this lake and get freshened up in water? When you hear a question like this, you gotta say YES! If you can’t say YES, honetly losen a bit. Change your way of looking at things. Relax 🙂
We did not what was waiting for us.. But here we are, Salda lake…long white sand beach, cyristal clear blue water lake..Maldives in Turkey! What is more, the lake is a popular excursion spot for people across the region or from beyond, the more so due to the hydromagnesite mineral found in its coastal waters, which is believed to offer remedies for certain dermatological diseases. We did not know how to show you this place the best way possible.. We made a very small movie.. You can find it here!
