Adrenalinic hiking with parents in Savièse ( Canton of Valais )

The weather looked nice for the incoming weekend, parents were spending part of their holiday in their camping car, around Canton of Valais, a perfect occasion to join them! 🙂

We don’t need too much for our camping this time, except for sleeping bags, mattresses, insulating panels for our Rav4 and the hiking stuff.

This time our destination is the camping area in Savièse. It is around 2 hours drive from Geneva and we got there perfecty on time for dinner and the sunset. The parking is reserved for camping car and for people who want to spend the night rounded by beautiful mountains and fresh air.

Sadly we couldn’t use our drone because it is restricted flying area, but with a few photos we can easily show how nice this place is.

After a good breakfast with view, we started our hiking.

It is a 10 km path not too steepy or too hard, but is very panoramic and reeeeally adrenalinic. 🙂

Very important warning : if you feel dizzy because of the hight please don’t go. In the photos below you will understand why.

The path follows an old irrigation project starting from our parking, First part is into the forest walking along the small river.

After 1.5 km starts the most panoramic way. The walk is basically on the steepy side of the mountain. The path is escavated from the rocks, with dark tunnels and bridges suspended in the void. There are in total 4 bridges and the longest one is more than 100m. Scary…. isn’t it?😁

The hiking might takes longer time than what you were expecting because, expecially on the bridges, you have to wait your turn to cross it. ( alternate way )

We enjoyed a good late afternoon meal with beer, wine and delicious food.

Our basecamp setup has been really organized. Parents’ camping car, of course, gave us best confort we would need, but also our camperized Toyota Rav4 is really well arranged.

In the late afternoon we got rounded by storms with strong wind which made us desist playing badminton.

No problem! We seated relaxed inside the camper chatting about anything came out our thoughts.

The alarm rang around 9:00 am next morning. With no rush we had breakfast and we planned our visit in Martigny.

We parked both cars close to Foundation Berry ( https://fondation-barry.ch/IT/ ). There is bernardo’s peluche shop, a restaurant and is also possible to visit the museum and the area where dogs are resting or playing all together.

After our shopping we took a walk around the city following the Historical Itinerary through Roman ancient theatre, roads, and other ruins spread around the area. Martigny was a Roman city and the new city has been built over the old one, keeping and preserving the ruins under the building itself creating an open air museum.

The visit of the city deserve 2-3 hours.

Please note this funny warnings:)

If you are interested in arts there is the museum Gianadda with many different temporary art’s exhibitions . ( https://www.gianadda.ch/ )

It’s time to have dinner and say “see you next time” to my parents. We have 2 hours drive to Geneva. And………

Of course Safety first!!
