Long Weekend Holiday in Ticino
Last week we took the advantage of a long weekend holiday in the Italian part of Switzerland, Ticino. We decided to pack few things and climb up to the beautiful mountains in the area. Mountains around Lago del Naret offers a fantastic view, from every point you get to see a breathtaking landscape view.
We arrived around the lake around at 10am on Saturday and found an amazing spot for a wild camping experience where we can sleep in the car and have maximum privacy and damn 360 views! As soon we arrived, we changed to hiking boots and hit the rocks! Like a lot of big pieces, massive rocks.. It took us 3hrs of hiking to reach at cristallina.
Perfect! One of the best feelings to reach a top target in the end of your hiking! Totally worth all the up and downs, hills, ROCKS and VIEWS! This is where we had our lunch that we carried with us. ( Some chicken, lettuce wraps. YUMmMm! ) At Cristallina, we saw that there is also a restaurant with a terrace and of course with a boom boom pow cool view! Next time, definitely taking the advantage and eating up there!
It was around 3pm when we decided to go back to our car and set up for the dinner, sunset and pyjama party in the mountains! It took us 2,5hrs to arrive back to our 360 view spot. Ste took a quick shower, ( We have a small and genius outdoor portable shower! ) meanwhile Den was preparing the dinner table. Too exciting, we tried out single use barbecue to grill some good stuff! Despite a bit of fear of failure, we made it totally work! Our dinner turned out to be just Oh la la !! Yum!
After 1-2 glass of wine, a bottle of beer, sun was already ready to kiss us good for the day. Literally the most calming thing in life is to watch sun rising and setting. Here in the mountains or anywhere in the nature actually ( hope you might agree ), it is even more magical to witness sunrises and sunsets..
Around 9pm, despite the sun was gone, it was still fairly light at this point! Not scary at all!! I didn’t expect that! Then what happened? We first time made some friends at the mountains! A nice couple, Anna and Iugyen, from Germany, asked us to join them around the campfire and offered us some of the most delicious liquors they homemade!
We enjoyed a nice warm night, interesting conversations with them. The sky was full of stars and we had blankets, cherry liquor in hand with some new cool friends around the campfire! What else to ask for in life?
We went in our car bed around 11pm. How exciting! I always loved loved loved sleeping outside somewhere in the car with the idea of waking up to some magic next morning. Despite the night was a little colder than we expected, we managed to survive and not get cold or sick heheh. Our sleeping bags always there for us, they function, I am thankful.
Ste left the car at 6:20 to meet Iugyen for a sunrise drone fly appointment! Despite that it was still chilly out there, Ste was certain to go out and face the cold. He always put extra effort to keep his promises and get things done. I am so proud of him.
When Ste came back to the car, he gave me the news, “Iugyen’s drone used up its battery, lost signal and finished in the lake somewhere!! “ Oh NO! What a luck! That was soo unfortunate! Iugyen was so cool though , he could still joke and said, ” I can’t believe my drone has drown, I would expect it to swim.” Hahah. Maybe one day it will dear friend, maybe one day they will all swim.
After the pistachio cream cone & tea breakfast, it was time to say goodbye to our friends. They were on a holiday here in Switzerland and wanted to see as many places as they can.
With their departure from the 360 damn view spot of our, my lovely husband was already playing with this remote monster car. He even passed over my foot with this car! He has to follow speed limits even if at the mountains with a remote car!
Sunday was working well for us, we went for another short walk and took some more photos before the lunch time. Our legs were still hurting from yesterday though. Duh.
At noon, our pasta with tuna and tomatoes was ready to enjoy. We stayed at the table a little more while and it was around 2 pm when we left this beautiful place. The roads to arrive there and going back to city are surrounded with beautiful mountains, rivers and different lakes! If you ever visit Lago del Naret, plan to stay minimum 2 nights. We said we will go back for few days more, as soon as our new camper van arrives!
